Opening hours & parking

The surgery is open to welcome patients and to assist with queries and prescriptions from 8:30 a.m. Monday to Friday and closes at 6:30 p.m.

However to assist with patients who may work or have to commute we also have a late evening surgery every Tuesday and Thursday until 8:00 p.m.

The surgery is closed on Wednesdays from 1:30 p.m.  This time allows the practice to do fundamental things that enables the practice to run smoothly.  It gives the clinicians time to have meetings to discuss clinical protocols and procedures, to give staff training, management meetings and to decide on practice policies which in turn ensure the practice runs smoothly.

 

Consulting times

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

Wednesday 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Saturday Closed

 

Phones and premises

The surgery doors open at 8:30 a.m. daily, however appointments can only be booked at the reception desk from 10:00 a.m. onwards.  The telephone lines open at 9:00 a.m. daily.  The surgery telephone lines are closed between 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.  On Wednesday, the doors and phones close at 1:30 p.m. and the surgery closes at 6:30 p.m. on Mondays and Fridays. 

The practice opens alternate Tuesday and Thursday evenings for those patients who commute or who work and find it difficult to get to the surgery due to work commitments.  This services funs from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

There is no emergency service during this time, and if patients need a doctor in an emergency they must call the normal surgery telephone number, where an emergency number will be given.

Out of hour’s surgery closure

When the surgery is closed and you need an emergency doctor or medical advice out of surgery hours please telephone 01376 512827, where the out of hours service will assist you.  This service is provided by a deputising service which will not be your normal GP.  Emergency visits will be carried out by the duty doctor, who will always telephone you first to ascertain the extent of the problem prior to a visit.

Parking and access

Douglas Grove is a new building and has modern facilities for disabled and mobility patients.  We have dedicated parking with large wide ramps to enable patient’s good access to the front of the building.  The surgery has disabled toilets and lifts to assist if patients are required to go upstairs.

Disabled parking, access and toilets available.  Please inform reception if you are unable to manage the stairs or any access problems and they will try to assist.
